RUNNING OF THE WIENERS

October 4, 2026
3PM-5PM
Presented by Schulz Bräu Brewing Co.
NEW THIS YEAR
We’re taking the Running of the Wieners to the street! Bernard Avenue will be closed to traffic, and our four-legged racers will compete right down Bernard Avenue for an even bigger and better wiener dog race. Come line the street and cheer on Knoxville’s fastest dachshunds as they race for Oktoberfest glory!

And They're Off!

Our traditional race that occurs on the third Sunday of Oktoberfest! Wieners from all over have trained for months to participate. These athletes enter the brewery ready to bring home the glory. Though… why do mom & dad get to drink while the pup has to sprint?? We’ll need to talk to management about this.

Race Registration!

REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED!

Thank you all for registering your Baby Brats, Little Links, Feisty Franks, Flying Footlongs, Older Oscars, Senior Sausages and Mixed Sausages for Schulz Brau Brewing’s 11th Annual Running of the Wieners. We are thrilled to have over 110 participants this year. Here is some more information to ensure you are fully prepared for Race Day.

The Races will proceed rain or shine.

12 PM–2 PM –>  Check in at our small tent in the gravel parking lot across the street from the taproom. We will have numbers for all racers that they must have to compete.

2:30 PM –> Weiner Dog Parade through the Taproom, Biergarten and back out to track on the street. This is optional, but we would love you to participate. It’s the perfect time to show off your fur-baby.

3 PM –> Heats begin with one division and will continue until we have 1st , 2nd and 3rd place for that division before we move on to the next one.

5 PM –> Best Dressed Contest in the Biergarten. If your wiener dog would like to participate we will gather you all in front of the stage for the competition.

Awards Ceremony will be directly after the Best Dressed Contest, so if your wiener dog is a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finisher in a division please stick around for your award.

Please note the street will be closed from 2-6PM. Each competitor will require someone to hold them at the start line and another person to catch them at the finish line. Our track will be 30 yards (90 feet). Between races we require dogs to be on a leash for the safety of your fur-babies. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
