FESTBIER
GOLDEN TO LIGHT AMBER | CLEAN & BREADY
NOTES OF: TOAST, SPICES, HERBS
As another German lager that is produced specially for Oktoberfest, Festbier’s style is characterized by its deep golden color and slight hop bitterness – a nice counterpart to the sweet Märzen. Developed in the mid-1800’s, this is one of the few beers whose make was dedicated to being an additional brew offered at Oktoberfest celebrations.
Fun Fact: While many today would think that Märzen reigns supreme as the style served at Oktoberfest, it is actually Festbier (or Weisn to the locals)! While Marzen is the original Oktoberfest style, Weisn has taken it’s place for the brew that’s served today.
